DELTARUNE THEORY

the–concertmaster:

Alright! I’ve pieced together my views on Deltarune and its connections to Undertale, and I think I can present it now as a theory.

So the most important question concerning Deltarune is where does it take place in the Timeline? Is it a prequel, a sequel or an Alternate Universe in itself?

So obviously, Deltarune has to take place in a separate Universe, since Catty and Bratty hate each other, Undyne doesn’t know Alphys, Asriel is Alive etc etc.

But I think in its connections to Undertale that Deltarune is a prequel to Undertale, but ONLY for the characters of Sans and Papyrus. I think that this is the Universe Sans and Papyrus originally came from before they ended up in Undertale.

And there is a whole lot of Evidence to Support this.

So firstly Undertale. It’s obvious in the game that Sans and Papyrus comes from a different universe to the Universe presented in Undertale. Sans mentions it himself that he might not have originated from this world in the Genocide run.

And then theirs Sans hidden Lab. This Lab has SO many connections to Deltarune.

Firstly the Blueprint.

Isn’t this the exact same blueprint that we see Lancer and Susie working on?

Of course, this could just be Toby Fox reusing files, but knowing him and the amount of effort he puts into these games, especially these little lore secrets, I’m inclined to think differently.

And then there’s the drawing.

Don’t Forget. It’s a line repeated throughout Deltarune. Over and over and over, through the music and the litemotifs. And three people that we don’t recognise? Could it be Kris, Susie and Ralsei: The supposed heroes of Deltarune?

And one final thing. Sans seems to have an unwarranted hatred towards humans in Undertale. Plus the fact, that unlike most of the monsters in the game (Except for the ones who knew of a human presence) Sans recognises you as a human from the moment he meets you. So why does he hate humans so much? Perhaps… Perhaps in a previous timeline, something happened with him. Something that ripped him away from his home and landed him in the Undertale world. Perhaps something bad concerning a human, who we can see isn’t exactly the most trustworthy.

When Deltarune finally comes out, it’s very likely that our choices don’t matter. They didn’t matter in this demo (Well they did to the tiniest extent), and we’re constantly being reminded of the fact that everything in this game is fate and that we have no control. So I believe the final ending of Deltarune will have Timebending, Universe bending impacts that we have no control over. Something that will greatly impact Sans and Papyrus.

Anyway that’s just my theory on Deltarune.

Hope you all like it.

DELTARUNE SPOILERS: THEORY

squigglydigglydoo:

guys

I just realized something about Deltarune

ok ok ok so

we know that Chara’s soul was powering the Core in Undertale, right?

image

yeah there they are

well. at the end of a Genocide route, Chara wants Frisk’s soul because they can’t access their own – it’s still stuck there in the Core.  but at the end of a PACIFIST ROUTE, Chara stays inside the Core instead of possessing Frisk, where we see their soul in person.

and when the monsters leave the Underground… the Core is shut down.

What happened to the last person who was in the Core when things went screwy?

I think Chara was slorped into the closing of the Core and shotputted into an alternate reality, similarly to Gaster… and that alternate reality is where we are NOW, in DELTARUNE.

When we reach the end of the Dark World, remember that column of light?  Susie says she thinks we’ve stumbled onto something really important… and Kris’s soul feels like it’s glowing.  I think Chara’s soul injected itself into Kris then and there.

this explains why “Kris” tears out their soul and shoves it in a birdcage.  CHARA DOESN’T NEED IT.  CHARA BROUGHT THEIR OWN.

Chara is now piloting Kris around like a friggin Gundam.

but now?  now we have Kris’s soul without a body, trapped in a cage.  And we know Kris is still in control of it, because Kris can move it around even after being stuck in that cage.

Kris’s soul needs a new body if it’s gonna stop Kris’s body from being used by Chara for who knows what nefarious deeds.

Didn’t we… MAKE a body earlier?  One that was apparently discarded, since our choices don’t matter?

Who else has told us that we don’t have a choice in the matter… but Chara, at the end of a Genocide run?

EDIT: ALSO this characterizes the voice at the beginning, during the “survey.”  The track that plays throughout that is a remix of Gaster’s theme, and it’s titled “ANOTHER HIM.”

I’m like 80% sure this is Gaster, and that Gaster will be helping Kris from behind the scenes throughout this story…

ALSO ALSO.  As pointed out by @ectoimp, RALSEI IS SUSPICIOUS AS HECK.  Weren’t you supposed to CLOSE that fountain?  He just led you there with a convenient-sounding story… and what happened once you reached it….?

jellotwist:

OKAY LET’S TALK ABOUT THE DELTARUNE TIMELINE

okay so there are many, many, things that imply that deltarune is a prequel to undertale, such as:

•kris looks like chara and chara is toriel’s and asgore’s adopted son

•everyone is on the surface

•undyne isn’t wearing an eye patch AND doesn’t know who alphys is at all, which btw BROKE MY HEART

•one of the guys who looked like one of the gaster followers was colorized:

•and sans (and papyrus) just suddenly showed up at the end of the first chapter

•probably a lot more tbh feel free to add more or scream about this with me,

BUT CONSIDER THAT THIS IS AN ALTERNATIVE TIMELINE BECAUSE:

•asriel is grown and off to college, when he should have been just a kiddo when he died before the events of undertale

•bratty and catty are: 1) old enough to be college aged girls and 2) hate each other because they think they other is coping them

•in the graveyard gerson has his own grave, and if it was a prequel he would still be alive like he is during the events of undertale, no matter the route you take

•shyren’s sister and snowdrake’s mom are buried in the same graveyard, which means they are dead, but also means that alyphs never needed their bodies to test the determination of monsters which means a whole lot of shit right fuckin’ there

•toriel and asgore seem to be split but still are parents of “azzy” and kris, which is strange because toriel left him after asriel and chara died and asgore started killing the humans that fell down to the underground

there probably is a lot more things supporting this that i can’t think of right now, but i really don’t think deltarune is a prequel to undertale. rather, an alternative universe where the war between monsters and humans never happened and many many years have passed, where asriel had the chance to grow up and graduate and go off to college (so proud!) and where asgore and toriel had also adopted a human, and no, this is not chara, but kris, as kris is their own person.

but, i will note that chara may have already begun to possess kris, for some reason or another, i dunno, something we can’t control and is out of our hands, no matter if we have spared everyone or fought everyone.

after all, in this game, your choices don’t matter, right?

the complete opposite of undertale, where your choices do matter and affect future resets of the game~

Deltarune

[Spoilers below]

Well holy shit. I think we can all agree, HOLY SHIT.

Playing Deltarune was the last thing I imagined I’d be doing on a fine Halloween evening, but I digress. Something interesting I noticed.

The Delta Rune itself.

The crest of the Dreemur Family in Undertale, is actually called the Delta Rune, which is an anagram of Undertale (unlike the title of the game Deltarune, which is one word). The interesting thing is the prophecy, which the wiki says: “The Delta Rune is said to symbolize a prophecy that predates written history. However, the original meaning has been lost in time. What is certain is the bottom triangles symbolize the monsters of the underground.

HOWEVER. The new prophecy is that there will be three heroes, two of Light (Kris and Susie), and one of Dark (Ralsei [which I would like to add is also an anagram of Asriel]). Originally, I saw the Delta Rune of Undertale as this,

with the arrows pointing outward, I always thought the two arrows going left or right being the choice of Pacifism or Genocide, and the bottom arrow being the neutral choice.

BUUUUT NOOOWW…

I see this.

The downward triangle not representing the monsters of the underground, but of the Darkner from the newly learned prophecy, Ralsei, and the two UPWARD triangles representing the two hero’s of light, Kris and Susie.

God damnit Toby. You had this planned all along.

So now we have a lot of questions. This world we explored has many similarities, but many many differences. To name a few, Undyne and Alphys aren’t a couple, Bratty and Catty aren’t BFF’s, Toriel isn’t with Sans, Asriel is alive, Frisk never freed the monsters and Chara, also known as Kris.. Never died. This whole world is like an anagram, just as the title of the game Deltarune is an anagram of the word Undertale.

And we have so many questions.

What is the bunker south of town? Is Ralsei a Dreemur? What is the second fountain of darkness? How does this connect to Undertale?

I think Sans might know.

If you complete Undertale with the neutral ending, you can gain access to san’s workshop, which has a strange machine covered, and blueprints with symbols you don’t recognize. “The second drawer from the left contains a badge. The first drawer’s contents change depending on some of the player’s previous actions; it always contains a photo album with photos of a happy Sans along with many other people the protagonist does not recognize. If the game has previously been completed with any ending, another photo will show up with the protagonist, Sans, and all of the protagonist’s friends.

But.

After the v1.001 patch has been applied, and after talking with the Clam Girl and learning of Suzy,

(Hmmmm, thats a coincidence of a name), there will be a card sticking out from the back flap of the binder, described as a poorly drawn picture of three smiling people with the words “don’t forget” written in lowercase.

Three.. Smiling.. People..

When you meet Sans at the end of Deltarune, he says he’s from out of town and just moved here, which interestingly enough, If you talk to the NPC’s of Snowdin, they say “Those skeletons showed up out of nowhere.” (referring to them being new residents of Snowdin), as if San’s goes where he needs to be (which is quite often the case as he teleports around the game to his whim.)

So I think the characters of Deltarune in the town, those we grew to love over these past three years, are different. But Sans and Papyrus?

I think we’re just saying hello to an old friend.

SPOILERS BELOW!

I’ve been seeing a theory flying around that White Diamond is blind, and uses her pearl to see throughout. Now, I’ve been believing that our pearl was once, in the past, White Diamond’s pearl for a very long time. If the theory that White Diamond was seeing out of her pearl’s eyes for sight, then that could mean that White Diamond could see out of OUR Pearl’s eyes. She would have seen EVERYTHING. Thats why White didn’t seem so fazed when Steven appeared in front of her. Because she already knew.
