I’m not leaving tumblr just yet, (because i know the shitstorm afterwards is gonna be funny and I’ve been on this hellsite since 2011 and they’re gonna have to kill me before I delete) but I am participating in the #logoff2018 protest.
I just… I don’t know how to respond to this with anything other than an infuriated fucking howl, honestly? I’ve checked this and @essayofthoughts has checked this and there’s confirmation that Tumblr is actively banning archival efforts so it looks like this is not a bug.
If you were planning on archiving anything from this website, you’re too late. It is all going to fucking burn. Not only is Tumblr committed to destroying the platform, they are committed to absolutely fucking anyone who is trying to conserve any part of it.

Oh my God. I hope this is not true, but it sounds like it is. Looking into it now. @staff some of us have created content that only exists on this platform since nearly the beginning. Our intellectual property, if it has to leave this site, cannot be destroyed.
Yeah its awful, I had a feeling this was going to happen so I backed up everything to wordpress then all of my personal posts up onto my google drive. I saw this happen with some previous platforms I was on during great purges. Anything and everything was removed and there was no saving or archiving it. If you haven’t backed up at the very least start taking screenshots everyone. You have to save what you can
