when guys are like “girls over [relatively low weight] shouldn’t wear [revealing article of clothing]” a lot of the time they are trying to get women above that weight to say “OH REALLY?” and post a picture of themselves looking good in that article of clothing. It’s a creepy power play designed to prey on both women’s confidence and their insecurities and trick them into posting revealing pictures of themselves for the sexual gratification of men who they otherwise wouldn’t have given the time of day. It’s a sleazy pick-up artist tactic. It’s negging. When you see an all-too-common post that’s like “bigger girls shouldn’t wear bikinis” and the response is him getting “owned” because a woman replied with pictures of herself looking beautiful, he’s not getting owned at all, he’s getting exactly the result he was hoping for. They’re basically saying “You sure showed me by sending me, a huge sexist creep, a picture of yourself in a bikini! PLEASE don’t send me nudes, I don’t know if I could take the humiliation!”
The scary thing is that I’ve had a guy admit this to me. He said something about “fat girls always have ugly tits”. I am fat and a girl. I said “no, they don’t.” He said “prove it”. When I made it clear that a) I had nothing to prove, b) why the fuck am I gonna care about some beanpole-in-a-meme-shirt’s opinion?, and c) I wasn’t EVER gonna send him shit, he went crazy. Straight up admitted that the technique always worked blah blah, I must have been a dude pretending to be a girl blah blah, and basically had a temper tantrum till I blocked him.
So 100% guys that do this are garbage and even if they’re not, remember that you don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

sorry to anyone offended by the concrete stuff that can be found in the steven universe art book that recently came out.
i drew concrete during a little writing exercise we usually do when we’re planning stuff for the next season. we were given a few minutes to come up with a design, then the drawing is passed on and someone else writes a description. i won’t say who that was as i don’t want to open them up to harassment.
the person who wrote the comment brought what was going on with this character online to my attention a few days ago. they expressed regret over being careless and not really thinking of how it could be seen as a negative thing. they made a mistake. we talked about it and they’ve learned from this experience.
as far as concretes design goes, i drew her pretty expressionless. i think all i used was a stylo and a warm grey copic to give her a little more detail. i hadn’t really thought about her since that writing exercise. if i had more time i woulda drawn her cuter. i wanted to get across the idea that her skin would be dark. i get how the contrast with her lips could be seen as a racist caricature. if she was ever to be in the show i’m sure we would’ve developed her into a great character.
we do our best to approach the characters on the show in a thoughtful way. we’ve made some mistakes and missed some things. we’re always learning along the way, tho…we’ll continue to make mistakes. we’re not perfect and there’s no such thing as a perfect cartoon.
something we talk about on the crew a lot is how excited we are for the future. we’re excited to see what people who were into SU end up creating 10 or 20 years from now. the mistakes we’re making now, hopefully people continue to discuss them. hopefully people learn from our mistakes. they’ll probably make some new ones along the way, but the people that come up after that will hopefully learn from those mistakes, too.
i’m very sorry to anyone that was hurt by the images and comments. if you’re discussing things online, i hope you can do so in a caring and understanding way. i hope you have people around you that can understand your feelings.

That has to be extremely aggravating.
Straight people like to experience gay tourism to show us queers how open minded they are. As if it didn’t occur to them we might be hanging out in gay bars to meet other gay people.
My gay friend took me to a gay bar once i dont see the big issue of me going there whilst straight. Its not some exclusive club for gays only the same way we dont ha ve straight people clubs.

There is a reason it is for people to find like minded people but its NOT exclusive for gays only. Just like standard clubs arent only for straights i have had quite a few gay friends over the years and not one has batted an eyelid as ive joined them at a gay bar, I understand some people go there because they fetishize gay people and are looking for gay bffs but not EVERY straight person is like that.
Gay bars exist because before 2003 it was illegal in most states to be gay and one of the few places where gay and trans people could go and be themselves was a fucking mob-owned bar. The cops used to kick down gay people’s doors and arrest them while they were in bed. Trans people couldn’t walk down the street without getting at least questioned by the cops. Bars were the only space for us, and even then they’d get raided by the cops.
It’s why the riot that kicked off the modern gay rights movement happened at Stonewall, a bar. It’s why gay gathering places are bars instead of coffee shops or restaurants 9/10 times. (It also doesn’t hurt that drinking eases the pain of being the almost constant target of harassment and anti-gay legislation, also why alcoholism is so high in our community)
This isn’t some fucking hookup culture thing, or finding “like minded people” it’s something that was forced onto and built into our culture.
You’re exploiting our spaces that you forced us into to begin with. Don’t walk in here and tell us why gay bars exist when you’re this fucking ignorant.

I did a little further reading on his about and the guy running this is just a dad with two kids who like playing tabletops with him and he had the composition and musical training to start making soundtracks for his games then decided to spread that to the world for absolutely free, he even welcomes you to use his tracks in your works (podcasts, videos etc) and is open to being hired for custom tracks
