Because I still havenât got over how shitty Amandaâs âfriendsâ were treating her so:
Emma Râs the one thatâs been coercing everyone else to avoid and exclude Amanda because she knew that Noah actually used to have a crush on Amanda, and Emma R felt threatened, so sheâd told Noah that Amanda thought he was a creep and instead convinced him to go out with her instead.
So after Amanda has that big argument with Emma R-
(âWell if you think Iâm so terrible then just stop being my friend!â
âokay!â)
-she just completely stops talking to them, and Emma R. starts feeling kinda guilty, because this is her best friend after all, and theyâve known each other since they were 7, and she kinda misses her.
So one day, sheâs sitting at their usual lunch table with the rest of their friends, and sheâs waiting for Amanda to come in so she can apologize.
But then.
The cafeteria door opens, and in walks the school badboy, Lucien Bloodmarch, and the rest of his clique.
And heâs got an arm around Amandaâs shoulder, and sheâs laughing at something he mustâve said, and sheâs joking around with the others in the group, and theyâre all looking at her as if she were the sun, and she fits in so well with them, like a missing piece of their puzzle.
And Emma R feels an unexpected spike of jealousy. Because thatâs her best friend.
Sheâs so caught up in her own thoughts that she almost doesnât hear Noahâs snide comment to Amanda as she and Lucien walk by with the rest of her group.
âNever wouldâve thought badboys were your type, Amanda.â
And the group of 5 just stops short.
Amanda is confused and has no idea what Noah is talking about.
Lucien understands, but doesnât bother to correct the guy despite how horrendously wrong he is.
(Ever since their fathers had started dating, he and Amanda had started spending more time together, and they ended up bonding over their shared rebellious streaks, problems with authority, and utter adoration of their dads.
Sheâs like the cool older sister heâd never wanted. He couldnât see her in a romantic light if he wanted to.
And not to mention heâs gay.)
Lucien just smirks down at Noah.
âWhat, like itâs any of your business who she dates?â
Noah bristles at that, and looks like heâs about to start a fight right then and there.
But Emma R stops the fight before it can happen by getting up and asking Amanda if they can talk.
Amanda looks skeptical for a moment, before telling he others to go ahead.
Lucien, whoâs having so much fun riling up Noah, smirks and says, âSure thing, Panda,â before ruffling her hair and walking off with the others.
âHey! You know dadâs the only one who can call me that!â she yells good-naturedly.
âYou keep telling yourself that, Panda,â Ernest chimes in with a snicker as they walk away.
Amanda rolls her eyes and turns back to Emma R, her smile immediately slipping off her face to be replaced with an aloof expression.
âWell?â she asks, arms crossed, eyebrow raised.
Emma R is a little stunned, a little out of her depth. Sheâs not used to Amanda having inside jokes without her.
Emma R swallows her pride, apologizes to Amanda, asks if they can be friends again.
Amanda thinks it over for a long moment. Sheâs so tempted to say yes, to leave it all in the past and have her best friend back again.
But her fatherâs words echo in her mind, and she steels her heart.
âNo,â she says.
Emma R looks taken aback.
âI donât want to surround myself with people who would alienate me for absolutely no reason at all, people who would avoid me and talk behind my back. Real friends donât do that. I deserve better.â
And with that, she turns around and stomps off after the rest of her new friends.
Emma R watches in astonishment.
Ernest gives Amanda a quick, one-armed hug as she rejoins the group.
Lucien says something too quiet for them to hear from so far away, before slinging an arm around Amandaâs neck and turning to smirk smugly at Emma R.
Alright, so I hate being the Damien police but after having so many trans people reach out to me about how uncomfortable they are about his treatment. Whelp, here I am. Again. So first off, I am a trans man. I have been out for years, so yes I know mostly what I am talking about. But can you imagine with me for a second that you go on to the Damien tag and a majority of the tag is just âDamien probably was divorced because he came out as transâ and âcan you imagine how the other dadâs reacted?â. That makes you feel a bitâŚ. Unlovable. Yes, shit like that happens but to automatically assume that Damiens had a bad life because he is transâŚ..well thatâs a bit transphobic in itself. Yeah life is difficult when youâre an adult trans person, but you have to remember that weâre just people too. To stereotype a group of people by such violent reactions is kind of well, discouraging. So yes, I understand that people want to write some darker stuff. Thatâs fair, but can we work as a community to promote some trans positivity as well? Itâs something I say a lot, but please just remember that there are trans people in fandom space and we see what you are writing. Long story short, donât be a dick to Damien because heâs trans. We all love him and no one seemed to care in the game.

Letâs look on the bright side. Have some positive headcanons.
– The entire cul de sac (yes even Joseph the cult ending is not canon) are very decent people. They donât judge Damien at all for his gender. This is what happens when he tells them.
– When Joseph found out he smiled and said that God accepts all his children no matter what and if Damien ever needed a listening ear or stroll in the graveyard heâd be at the church. He tells Damien theyâre a community and they stick together no matter what.
– When Brian found out, he did a big belly laugh and said he was glad that Damien was happier being who he truly was and gave him a big bear hug. He invites Damien to come fishing anytime he wants.
– When Hugo found out he got excited and congratulated Damien. He educates himself about gender identity and related topics. They like to discuss gender in literature and other media! Hugo also offers to piledrive anyone who threatens Damien. He WILL five finger shuffle you. You canât see him.
– When Robert found out, he immediately swore that he would knife anyone who touched a hair on Damienâs head, if Mary didnât get to them first. He tells Damien to call him any time of night if he needs a bodyguard to walk him home safe. He will Queensbury throw down with any bullies.
– When Craig found out, he picked up Damien in a big hug. Craig also offers to help Damien work out, eat right, and bulk up in any way he would like, and Damien found that it did help his dysphoria as he can sculpt his body the way he wants. Craig becomes his workout buddy and lets him use his home gym because Damien is too shy to use the public one. When he starts T, his gains start to come in even more, and Craig is so proud of his progress.
– When Mat found out, he cheered and gave his friend a hug. He shows Damien tons of music artists and bands who are trans, especially genres that Damien likes, and Damien is happy knowing that people like him are a part of music. Mat ensures his shop is a safe space, strictly no homophobia and transphobia allowed, and has kicked people out for talking shit.
– Mary already knew since they were long time friends, but she cries with joy every time Damien approaches a milestone like when he got his first batch of T, when he changed his paperwork etc. She goes with him to every doctorâs appointment because heâs nervous sometimes. Sheâs so happy her special boy is happy, really.
– Lucien knows of course, and Damien has explained gender from a young age to him, which results in him being open minded and educated about it and heâs not likely to judge anyone else as a result.
I hope this cheers you up a bit, OP. The world is depressing for us so why should fiction be the same?

So, first off- this is Craig Cahn and the thing that made me first think that he was gay instead of bi. (And fyi I am a Bi myself, so this is more headcanoning and exploring character and not trying to stomp on other headcanons, jsyk.)
Yeah the very first time we met. But look- divorces do happen, and do happen in a chill manner. But⌠let us note a couple things. One, the divorce literally only happened âlast yearâ. Which could mean anywhere from (assuming this is the spring due to college letters and school timetables) 12+ to only 3-ish months ago depending on what counts as âlast yearâ.
You only get a SECOND of him being uncomfortable while breaking the news before he is on even ground and is like âyeah itâs old news and everything is in perfect order nowâ. AND THE DIVORCE HAPPENED EITHER WHILE SMASHLEY WAS PREGNANT OR JUST HAD RIVER. Now, this could be a him lying, except⌠itâs never really brought up again as a thing? Like, we deal with Matâs feelings for his dead wife, Josephâs failing marriage, and etc but despite how recent it was we are lead to believe their divorce was perfectly amicable despite the timing. (Now placing a cut here because this gets long and has more pics.)
