Once I was on a bus and I noticed a woman across from me had a deep gash on her hand
And I’m freaked out because it’s so deep I can see freaking BONE but I’m confused because there doesn’t seem to be blood
Then it hit me. It was a prosthetic hand. She had a gash in the fake skin of her prosthetic hand
And then I felt very stupid for the rest of the day
The other time I felt this stupid was when I was sat in gym listening to two girls talk and became horrified as o realised I couldn’t understand anything they said
And I was internally freaking out over the fact I had lost the ability to understand English when my friend sat down next to me and said “hey”
Me: I CAN UNDERSTAND YOU!
Friend: …yeah?
Me: why can’t I understand them?
Friend: …they’re exchange students from the Netherlands. They’re speaking Dutch
Me: *still feels stupid about this almost 20 years later*
As of today, November 17, 2018, any post with links, any links, even to other tumblr posts, just don’t show up anymore in tumblr’s search engine.
I just found out about it, after I posted a fic with a link to my masterlist and it got little to no notes (it shuldn’t). I was right – the moment I deleted the links, my post magically appeared in the search again. Wow.
Please spread the word to warn the others.
This affects artists who want to cross promote their work, writers who want to link to previous chapters or to a masterlist, and editors who want to link to their YouTube channels, among just a few. This new policy will kill content creators’ ability to spread their work, and for what? A poor attempt to use the algorithm to crack down on porn bots and scammers? Sad.
In the meantime, here’s what I suggest: post your work with no added links, and tell people to check the notes for your masterlist, story navigation, links to ko-fi, patreon, and other social media sites. Make sure you have all those things ready, then paste it into a reblog and have people access them that way. It’s stupid, but it’s a work around we’ll have to use until tumblr gets their act together.
Reblogging again because I need advice on creating masterpost links.
what she means: the tv show iCarly always portrayed Spencer as some bumbling idiot after dropping out of law school after three days, but they disregard the fact that this means Spencer did in fact finish college with a degree and knew enough about the law to pass his entrance exams and had good enough grades in his classes to be accepted into a law school therefore the image that they portrayed of him being stupid is false, he was simply a man who realized his passion lied elsewhere and he wasn’t going to pay a tuition for a law school studying that when his heart wasn’t in it. he was a smart man with the knowledge and capability to do anything, and he chose his art
hey i’ve seen a lot of people making posts like “i hate v*ltron and its fandom and writers but luckily we have she ra which is written and stanned by wlw so it’ll be perfect and amazing” and i wanna caution y’all against having unrealistic expectations for this show. i’m excited and have high hopes for it too, but i don’t want she ra to become a franchise made in a genuine attempt to be progressive that ends up being shredded by its fanbase because it wasn’t flawless. there will almost certainly be times when it disappoints us. if you expect it to be perfect you’ll be even more let down when it isn’t. if you expect this to be “v*ltron, but unproblematic,” i don’t think you’ll end up happy.
having a permanent full time job is you thinking to yourself “so this is really the rest of my life huh” as you come home every single day before using your 4 hours of recreational activity to do nothing and then going to bed
